With fall here and winter fast approaching, it’s about time to ready ourselves for the coming changes ahead. These changes not only affect our choice in wardrobe and daily plans, but also, bring some pretty big changes for our skin.
Today, Forever Flawless would like to give you a few tips you can implement into your daily routine to ready yourself for Winter – and all it takes is a slight bit of modification from what you’re probably doing right now.
Tip #1: Find Your Winter Skincare Regimen
First and foremost, implementing a new skincare regimen is incredibly important during the cold, drying winter months. The products you used during the Summer, Spring and even Fall may be wonderful products, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they are made to stand up to the test of the most trying – and drying – time of year for your skin.
We recommend finding a cleanser that is cream based so that it hydrates your skin without drying. Your skin will thank you for that added boost in moisture. You will also need a good quality moisturizer for the daytime hours, and a moisturizer cream for the night that can hold up well. At the most basic level, we recommend our White Diamond Collection, which will provide you with all of the products you will need to get through winter, skin unscathed and beautiful.
If you want to take your skin care game one step further, maintaining your skin’s elasticity, moisturization and collagen level will work wonders you didn’t know were possible. Collagen production can be disturbed during the wintertime, and when that dwindles, it can cause a lack of all the above. In this case, we recommend our Pink Diamond Collection. Not only will it look beyond gorgeous sitting on your vanity, but these products are the sexiest, most amazing products to tackle your Winter skin care woes before they even begin. If you start using them now, you will have smooth, hydrated, youthful skin all season long.
Tip #2: Stay Away from Hot Water
There’s nothing quite like a hot shower to relax us at the end of the day, but did you know that using hot water is counter productive when it comes to caring for our skin. It has drying properties, which suck the moisture away from the skin – which, of course, is the last thing we want. No matter what type of body wash or body bar you use in the shower, if you are using hot water, you are doing yourself no favors.
Dermatology Doctors have said that the safest, best temperature to take a shower any time of the year for maximum skin benefits is a lukewarm 98.6 degrees. That’s equivalent to that of our normal body temperature. If you can tolerate room temperature water, that’s even better. We know, it’s not quite what you wanted to hear – but there’s always sweaters, booties, and leggings to snuggle up in after!
Tip #3: Hydrate from Within
Believe it or not, this is the one tip that goes overlooked often. Many women do not drink an adequate amount of water to truly be (and stay) hydrated throughout the day. Doctors recommend drinking 10-12 glasses of water per day, up from the previous recommendation of 8-10 glasses daily. If you find it hard to consume this much water, add some fruit to your water like lemon slices, lime slices, berries, or a combination of all 3 to add natural flavor without the sugar.
Drinking the proper amount of water is essential to the skin’s ability to maintain moisture properly, and to do its job as the body’s largest organ. All our cells rely on water for proper functionality, so it’s critical to ensure we are caring for our bodies to the best of our abilities.
There is so much more we can do to protect and hydrate our skin during the Winter Season, but these 3 tips will give you a good head start on things you can do to be proactive in having the best skin possible all Winter long.
